Zhanar Zhengisbay – Illustrator
Zhanar is a graphic designer but her passion is illustration. Born in Kazakhstan she now lives in Poland.
What’s your background?
I was born and raised in Kazakhstan. I finished school there and moved to Europe to study at university. I’m mostly a graphic designer but I prefer being an illustrator and an artist.
What or who is inspiring you right now?
My mother, sister, and friends around are inspiring me. They always cheer me up and like everything I create so it helps a lot. I started drawing in my childhood, so I kinda always knew that I would be working in the creative industry.
How have you developed your art?
I live in the city centre full of nice European style buildings where I have a room in a cosy apartment which I share with 3 international students.
What is your favourite era of design?
Precisionism, the art movement.
Who has been the most inspirational person for you?
an illustrator Heikala. She is the most inspirational illustrator.
Describe your typical daily routine?
Typically, I wake up at 8am, wash my face and brush my teeth then I have my breakfast, prepare myself and leave to the office where I spend 6 hours. In this office, I work on some graphic design tasks such as info-graphics, designing templates etc. I leave at 4pm, go back home to have dinner then I draw or paint.
What project of yours has inspired you the most?
I’ve been working on one challenge-project this October giving me lots of inspiration. It’s called Inktober finding new drawing techniques, gaining new ideas and new supporters of my art.
Do you have a favourite quote that you try to live by?
“Those who seek shall find”
Do you dream?
Of course, every day! 🙂
What’s on your playlist right now?
The Rose – Take Me Down (a Korean band’s song I have listened to this every day for the past month).
